Finstep helps young people between the ages of 12 and 18 to become financially literate and thus achieve their personal goals. This is implemented with its own app, which can be described as a mixture of Duolingo and the content of Kurzgesagt. In entertaining, animated short videos, young people learn practical financial skills. The topics are intended to cover all points of contact between young people and finances, from "how do I earn extra money at the age of 15?" to "which insurance does a person need?" and "how does a tax return work?" to "how do influencers actually make money? The knowledge acquired is tested in quizzes and challenges, and a reward system increases the incentive to learn.
Finstep was founded in Hamburg at the beginning of 2022 and was able to close a six-figure angel investor round shortly after its founding. A prototype has been made available to a test group of over a hundred users. Currently, the 7-member team is preparing for the official market launch, which will take place in the first half of 2023.
Finstep sees the educational offer as a basic building block that will be expanded in the future to include youth-oriented financial products in order to become a central financial centre for families in the future.
