eMonkey

eMonkey is a Vietnamese e-wallet and fintech startup developed in 2017 by Hanoi-based M-Pay Trade and Technology (founded in 2008). It enables mobile, cashless payments and is particularly well-known for its integration with the e-commerce platform Lazada Vietnam. The app allows users to pay bills, top up their accounts, and send money without needing direct access to a bank. The company gained recognition among a broader international audience through a strategic investment by Alibaba’s financial subsidiary Ant Financial (known for Alipay), which leveraged operating licenses from the State Bank of Vietnam to enter the Vietnamese market.
